Information for Parents - Creating Videos for Virtual Events

We ask that you create videos using your phone or tablet. Please do NOT use dedicated video cameras. Please refer to the video tutorials in the links below to see how to configure your device appropriately to create videos for PMTA virtual event submission.

How to Email Videos To Your Teacher

From an iPhone (scroll down for iPad and Android)
  • Open the Photos App on your iPhone
  • Scroll down and touch "Videos"
  • Touch the video you want to send, and watch it play to make sure it is the correct video
  • After viewing the video, touch the "Share" icon in the lower left corner of the screen. This icon looks like a box with an arrow coming out the top
  • A new screen appears. Touch the blue "Mail" button
  • A new Message page appears. Touch the "To:" field and enter the teachers's email address. Then touch the "Subject:" field, and type the student's name and the word "video".
  • After you have entered the recipient and subject information, press the send button. The send button is blue, with an up arrow, and is in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • A message, titled "Mail Drop", appears at the bottom of the screen. It warns you that the message is too big for regular email. Touch "Use Mail Drop".

The teacher will receive an email from Mail Drop with a link to download your email and the video.

From an iPad
  • Open the Photos App on your iPad
  • Touch the "Recents" album in "My Albums" to open it
  • Touch the video you want to send, and watch it play to make sure it is the correct video
  • After viewing the video, touch the "Share" icon in the upper right corner of the screen. This icon looks like a box with an arrow coming out the top
  • A new screen appears. Touch the blue "Mail" button
  • A new Message page appears. Touch the "To:" field and enter the teachers's email address. Then touch the "Subject:" field, and type the student's name and the word "video".
  • After you have entered the recipient and subject information, press the send button. The send button is blue, with an up arrow, and is in the upper right corner of the screen.

From an Android device

Please note that most Android devices work similarly to this description.

  • Open the photos apo on your phone.
  • Scroll down until you see your video, and touch it to bring it up.
  • Watch the video play and make sure it is the correct video.
  • Touch the "Share" icon (typically on the bottom left of the screen). It will look like three small circles in a triangle connected by two lines.
  • A list of choices for sharing will appear. In the second row, select "Create Link".
  • At this point it may take a minute or so to upload the video and create the link. Once it is ready, you will see a message saying 'Link copied. Share it in an app.' Select Gmail from the list of apps.
  • A new message with the link will appear. Touch the "To:" field and enter the teachers's email address. Then touch the "Subject:" field, and type the student's name and the word "video".
  • After you have entered the recipient and subject information, press the send button. The send button is a blue right facing arrow, and is in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • The teacher will receive an email with a link to download your video from Google Photos.
